Release. Remix. Repeat

Release. Remix. Repeat
Longevity. The life blood of the music industry. The differentiating factor between fame and obscurity. Between feast and famine. Between blowing up and bankruptcy.

For the most part, the music industry is all about how long you’re able to stay relevant. How long your song’s able to stay at the top of the charts. And how long you’re able to produce hit after hit. That is unless you make a gingle/song for the Fifa World Cup. Then you might as well quit music, buy an island, name it after your hamster snuggles, and live happily ever after. Sounds great. However for the rest of us mere mortals, the process is simple – Release. Remix. Repeat.

So, after weeks of slaving away into the night you have a track. Its’s been mixed, mastered and all that jazz. You’ve managed to get it playlisted on radio. All the DJs love it. The masses love it too. You’re the talk of the town. The next best thing. House music’s second coming. No one can touch you. Or at least that’s what you thought. DJ “So & So” has a new track. Everyone’s calling it a “Summer Anthem”. A classic even. You drop a place on the charts. Only to drop 10 more the following week. Your life’s a wreck. The honeys ain’t calling like they used to. The promoters don’t know you no more. You’re fast becoming that guy who once made that song. And so, you do what any sane fame hungry, money hungry producer would do – get your track remixed.

Ok so we took it a bit too far. However the truth of the matter is, remixes have a way of extending the life cycle of a track, or even reviving a classic. Providing a fresh take on a song while introducing it to new audiences. And if you get a well known producer to remix it, all the better. You get to ride their coat-tails to the top of the charts, while DJ “So & So” plummets into obscurity. Sure, you’ll have to share the production credits. However on the upside, the remixers name is usually in brackets at the end of the title. Which means everyone sees your name first. Which means you get to shine just a little longer. Well, kinda…hey, we’re trying to help you out here.

We’ve put together a few remixes that revived a few of these hot tunes. Take a listen, enjoy, and producers…get to finding someone to remix your track. One Love!
