Album covers. Are they still relevant? Are they still necessary? And do they really do anything else besides look pretty? Truth be told, we don’t really know. However one thing’s most definitely for sure – they certainly do add a degree of credibility. If done right of course.

We live in a digital world. A world in which content is king, and what reflects on the surface is sometimes more important than what lies beneath. Where in a matter of milliseconds the credibility of your content is weighed, measured, retweeted or deleted in an instant. We won’t lie, we’re sometimes guilty of it. Of judging a track on the basis of its cover. But hey, what can we say – we like things that pique our curiosity.

Sure, we’ve long since past the days in which people lounged around with their album covers while reciting the lyrics to their favourite tunes as they hit the repeat button. Yeah, they may have lost their cultural relevance, however in the SoundCloud YouTube universe where people are all about plays & reposts, covers are sometimes the difference between fame & infamy. The difference between people pausing on there timelines to take a listen to your latest sound of the season, or taking a pass. Well, that is unless you’re Black Coffee. Cause let’s be honest, everybody listens to Black Coffee. Good cover or not.

In our estimation of things, a tracks artwork is an extension of the project. A mood board of sorts that sometimes helps in setting the tone. Telling an ever so subtle tale. And sometimes, a not so subtle tale about yet another DJs deep house chronicles.

We’ve put together a few tracks in which the only thing more appealing than their covers, are their melodies. Take a listen & enjoy the sights & sounds.
