Why We Love Jamiroquai

Why We Love Jamiroquai
Take a look up. No, not at the ceiling, but at the picture above. Almost everyone knows what this logo means. Well if you’ve come to this site you’d better know what it means. It’s like Nike’s iconic tick, like Ferrari’s black stallion, like the spotlight used to call Batman whenever Gotham City is under siege. No words are needed, and no explanation is required. Just a silent acknowledgement of its meaning suffices.

like any logo, all meaning transcends its surface imagery. This logo in its entirety is entrenched with expectations and experiences. It’s distinctive, bold, and beautiful in its simplicity, and even more importantly, it’s reflective of the type of music made by Jamiroquai. Lead man Jay Kay says that when writing songs, “if it doesn’t sound good with just a keyboard and a voice or a guitar and a voice, drop it.” It’s this very ability to encapsulate a feeling so distinctly, that has drawn people to Jamiroquai’s music time and time again.
In our opinion, Jamiroquai have to be one of the most prolific bands on the planet, an institution in their own right. Having made several albums for Sony, and one with Mercury Records, Jay Kay and his merry band of musicians have done all there is to do in music. From day one, Jamiroquai have been unashamedly jazzy, funky, soulful, with an overarching house sound. You see, the cool thing about Jamiroquai is that they make a brand of music that no one can easily replicate. A brand of music that they felt was missing from the spectrum of music that already existed. A brand of music that didn’t, and still doesn’t conform, but instead transcendes genre and culture.

So…in honour of all that is Jamiroquai, we’ve decided to bring you some of their most loved songs. Log onto Twitter & let us know which one’s your favorite.
