The Collab Collective
There’s something special that happens when musicians get together. To collectively work on a project, and infuse their signature sounds into a singular track. It’s like…like a musical rendition of the Avengers that just so happens to take place in a studio. Don’t get us wrong or anything, we love hearing from the solo studio assassins of the world, however, as in true blockbuster movie fashion – the real magic happens when a bunch of superheroes come together to save the world, or in this case, when a bunch of artists come together to make a tune.
Ok sure, we might have taken that analogy too far. Or maybe, just maybe we’re closer to the truth than we think. The way in which we see it, each artist comes with their own unique superpower…umm, we mean “talent” that undoubtedly helps in making a tune what it is. Missing the plot line? Well, what would “Get Lucky” be without the funky guitar riffs of Nile Rodgers, or the silky smooth vocals of Pharrell? Just another Daft Punk track we reckon – and by no stretch of the imagination is that a bad thing. Instead, what we have is one of the biggest tunes of the decade. A tune that manages to transcend era & genre, all because a few musicians decided to kick it, or rather “assemble” in the studio. Now that’s dope! And although not ever tune born from a collab reaches that level of popularity, more often than not, they manage to capture our imaginations like very few others ever do.
