Flashback Friday: Technotronic-Pump Up The Jam
Every gym instructor in the world has this song playlisted on their iPhone. Unlike us mere mortals, they know that it’s the perfect song for any occasion. Lunges, bench presses, pull ups & situps. You name it, and this song is probably perfect for it. When Technotronic first released Pump Up The Jam in the early 90’s, I’m sure they never anticipated the impact it would have on gym culture, yet alone pop culture.
Technotronic’s track Pump Up The Jam can be considered a pioneering track of sorts. It became one of the first house songs to break into the mainstream, paving the way for many a house song yet to come. It’s a track that’s responsible for taking house music out of dingy smoke filled underground nightclubs, and into the glitzy and glamorous world of Hollywood.
In our opinion, it would be a grave injustice if we didn’t acknowledge this track, and the impact it’s had on house music. And it’s for that very reason that we’ve decided to feature it as our Flashback Friday house song of the day. So whether you’re at home, or at the gym, turn up the volume and Pump Up The Jam.
