The 23rd Annual South African Music Awards take place on the 27th of May 2017. And yes we’re in for a treat ladies and gentlemen. From newcomers to seasoned vets, the caliber of music on display truly is breathtaking. It really is. However don’t ask us to tell you anything about the “Best African Indigenous Gospel Album”. And most definitely don’t ask us to tell you anything about the “Best Classical Instrumental Album”, cause just between the two of us – all we know is house music.
With Sun City as the backdrop to this year’s event, we couldn’t think of a more fitting venue to have the nominees battle it out for a coveted SAMA. And although we won’t make any predictions, we will say this – we’d really hate to be the ones deciding who wins on the night. With Black Motion, Mobi Dixon, DJ Clock, Durban’s Finest & NaakMusiq battling it out for “Best Dance Album”, all bets are off on who will walk away with an award on the day.
There is one other thing though. We’d like to see a few wrongs being made right, as in Babes Wodumo finally being acknowledged for absolutely owning 2016. No offence to the other artists, but she really did – SAMAs, hook her up with an award for goodness sake.
