As much as you may love listening to your favourite DJs mixes on radio & SoundCloud, be honest, it just doesn’t compare to actually watching them live. Watching them do their thing on the decks as you stand in the crowd soaking up the energy, patiently waiting for that song to play. That very song that you’ve been humming all week at work, playing in your car, and telling your friends about. And so here you are…at home. Yes, at home. Why? Well, because a plane ticket to New York to watch Masters At Work spin is a bit out of your reach at the moment. Damn!
Well, thank goodness for the Internet. YouTube and live streaming has allowed people from all over the world to simultaneously partake in the magic of their favourite DJs live sets, creating a culture of internet club-goers who only need a cellphone and Wi-Fi to watch the hottest house acts live. Convenient, ain’t it? In this day and age, it would seem as though live gig streaming is to the Internet, what football is to television. And if you don’t get what that means, ask any hardcore football fan if they’d miss a match on a Saturday afternoon.
And so, back to the dilema. Well actually, not so much. Cause come to think of it, as cool as it would be to see Masters At Work live in NYC, we’d settle for a live-stream party at our crib with a few of our friends. And on the upside, we get to use the plane ticket money on a whole lot of booze. Yes booze! We’ve put together some of our favorite vids of live gigs that we wish we could have been at.
