There’s Something About Azealia Banks

There’s Something About Azealia Banks
She sings, she raps, and she dances. But more importantly, she does all of this over a house beat while still managing to looking fly. It would be hard to find someone to dispute the fact that there’s something about Azealia Banks. Ever since she hit the scene in 2011 with her debut single 212, we’ve been rejuvenated by the breath of fresh air this Harlem native has brought to the world of house music. Harlem? Yep you heard right, she’s from Harlem. Which raises the question. What’s a Harlem native doing making house music?
Come to think about it, we couldn’t care less about asking ourselves these questions. Why? Well, because there’s just something about the way Azealia does what she does when she’s doing what she’s doing on a house beat. In our opinion Azealia has managed to do what no other hip-hop artist has done…Mesh the worlds of house & hip-hop together in a way that’s authentic and sincere. Often when one hears an artist rapping on a house beat, it somehow feels contrived and unauthentic. However this couldn’t be further from the truth when it comes to Azealia. Whenever one listens to an Azealia Banks house track, one can easily imagine her chilling at a corner in Harlem doing the best she can to represent her hood.
While all the other female rappers jostle for the hip-hop crown, Azealia has managed to forge a crown of her own. A crown that combines the bling of hip-hop with the flashy emeralds of house music. A crown that’s coveted by many but fits only one, Azealia.
So to those of you out there who are still undecided about your feelings towards Azealia, we have only this to say: You can detest her or admire her, but the one thing you can’t do is ignore her. Because fan or foe, you just have to admit that there’s just something about Azealia Banks.
